Grout
Did you know that bathroom and kitchen grout can be cleaned, and retreated with grout paint to bring back its original color? You can also change the color to a hue that better matches your design. It takes lots of elbow grease and an artist’s eye and attention to detail which is why this is one of my most favorite projects that will dramatically increase value and appeal for a fraction of a renovation.
Grout Cleaning and Re-color
Original bathroom grout was sand-colored and dirty, filled with soap scum and mildew. Grout was cleaned and refreshed with bright white grout stain to match the tile which dramatically increased the appeal of shower. Finally, shower caulking, which had mildewed, was replaced with new bright white caulk.
Grout Cleaning and Color Refresh
Original bathroom grout was ivory-colored and very dirty, as often happens with penny tile and light-colored grout in heavily trafficked areas, like a bathroom. Grout was cleaned and refreshed with an ivory grout stain resulted in a dramatic change.
Kitchen Caulk Replacement and Tile Clean
I see this in almost every home - the caulking on the kitchen counter has become eroded, discolored etc due to water damage. Caulk must be removed and dug out from the gap between the tile and the counter. The wet areas must be dried and cleaned. When re-caulking the gap, you can choose a color that matches your grout, or counter. In the example below, the client chose bright white grout to match the counter.
